Two Sets of Chapter Books

The “My Everyday” Series

These heartwarming and entertaining chapter books set in the 1960s are about Ireentje, the eldest daughter of Dutch immigrants to Canada.

The first book, My Amazing Everyday Adventures, will cause children between five and ten to giggle at her amazing adventures while painlessly learning about obedience, courage, family love, wolves, and marbles. This book will be published in February of 2025.

My Exciting Everyday Escapades is the second book in the series. Enjoy Ireentje’s exciting escapades as she learns about truthfulness, compassion, family love, babies, and batons. It will be published in March 2025.

My Fantastic Everyday Frolics is the third in the series. Delight in Ireentje’s fantastic frolics while she learns about responsibility, kindness, family love, kittens, and birds. It will be published in March 2025.

My Marvelous Everyday Moments is the fourth in the series. Giggle at Ireentje’s marvelous moments while she learns about heroism, other cultures, family love, chipmunks, and bears. It will be published in April 2025.

The “Reluctant Immigrant” Series

These books will be set in Iowa in the 1970s. In them, Ireentje experiences life as a third-culture immigrant, which results in humor. However, the books may not be published until 2026.

Two years after my first grandchild was born, I began hearing requests to “tell me a story.” Now, with eight grandchildren, the demands have become almost continuous. Stories about my childhood and the adventures of Ireentje are their favorites, closely followed by tales of the exploits of my dog! When I read the first draft of “Ireentje” to one family of grandchildren, they built a fort, had me join them inside, gave me a pad of paper and a pen, and told me to write the next book while they listened, of course. The other family’s children didn’t build a fort, but the response was similar. I was told, “Keep reading. I want to hear every word!” Greater commendation I could not dream of.

I loved reading about Ireentje’s adventures and all the funniness.

My Grammy is funny. She wrote these books mostly for her grandchildren, so she tells lots of stuff that I thought she wouldn’t say in public! The books are funny, exciting, and brave. And sometimes naughty.

What people have said

In these books, Caroline Crocker challenges the reader to step back into history and gives insight into a journey that many couples faced a decade after WW2. By capturing the reader’s imagination, Ireentje allows the reader to share experiences, emotions, and a sense of self-worth. This book will give young readers the chance to understand one family’s story and thus gain insight into stories belonging to many other families. The reader will experience, with the author, an underlying confidence and resilience that says ‘never give up’.

I just had to let you know how much Clara (8) loved the book. She’s been a little down on reading lately, and definitely doesn’t really love it just yet. And it’s been hard to get her to read some of the book club books. I’ve never ever seen her get excited about a book…that is, until she read about Ireentje! She even snuck it in her bed last night and stayed up super late to finish it and was practically jumping for joy telling me about it! She absolutely loved it, like lights up talking about it. It makes me so happy to see her this way and I’m hoping maybe it’ll help her to realize there are other books out there that will appeal to her too.

–Home schooling mother

Sarah (7) really enjoyed reading the book!! My 15-year-old even read it. I loved the part where the toy was in the oven, and Mom was ready to explode but managed not to, and their grandma says something along the lines of that being a good thing to practice being able to do for when they are mommies!

–Home-schooling mother

This is the history of a girl and her family. It is very interesting. I love the funny parts. I didn’t want to stop reading it because there are more and more adventures. It’s a good book! A sequel? I can’t wait to read it!
